Discovery Bay Catholic Community
Discovery Bay (DB) is a town on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The 2021 census recorded a population of 19,336 residents in DB, with 55% of them being non-Chinese. DB is home to a significant community composed of expatriates from over fifty countries.
In May 1973, the Hong Kong Resort Company Limited (HKR) was established and following two years of planning and negotiation, a 'Master Plan' was agreed in December 1975 between HKR and the Hong Kong government. Phase one, which consists of Beach Village, Headland Village & Parkridge Village, was completed in 1982.
The Catholics had to either travel to Trappist Monasty or Central to attend Sunday Masses, in the beginning. In 1983, Fr. Bernard Shields, SJ came to Residents Club house every 1st Sunday of the Month to offer Mass. There was Sunday masses on every Sunday from 1985 at Residents Club. Some of the Priests, came to help to offer masses, are Fr. Bernard Shields, SJ, Fr. Justin McCabe OCSO, Fr. Carlo Socol, SDB and Fr. Javier De Petro, Opus Dei. Later, Fr. Michael McKeirnan, MM started celebrating the Chinese masses.
Around that time, few sisters from the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels, along with Sr. Nancy Mak to help the local Catholic Community.
The residential flat in Glamour Court (1D) was bought in June, 1990. The Chapel was blessed in October, same year. The mass had to be held later in DBIS as the there was an increase in the attendance. The Chapel name was officially accepted as Holy Trinity Chapel in 1994. The chapel was also was blessed with a local vocation to Priesthood (Fr. Arturo Arcos). He was ordained as a Priest in the Year 2007.
The Chapel belonged to the Parish of the Epiphany Parish. The OMI Priest were given the responsibility of the Epiphany Parish in 1995. The Parish was handed over to the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) in 2006.
When the parish was divided in to two in the year 2015, Trinity Chapel became part of the New Parish called, Visitation parish. The venue of the Sunday masses was moved from DBIS to Wei Lun Primary School after the Co-vid Pandemic.
Though lot of limitation with regard to place and the timing of masses, people come with greatful hearts to be part of the DB Community. People volunteer themselves to set up the venue for mass, to help out during liturgy (Lector, EMHC, Choir, Altar Servers, Commentators etc) and to tidy up the venue after mass. We pray that May God continue to bless us to prosper as a healthy, spiritual and joyful Catholic Community.
愉景灣天主教社區
愉景灣 (DB) 是香港大嶼山的一個小鎮。2021年人口普查顯示，DB居民人口為19,336人，其中55%為非華裔人士。 DB 擁有一個由來自五十多個國家的外籍人士組成的重要社區。
1973 年 5 月，香港與業有限公司 (HKR) 成立，經過兩年的規劃和談判，HKR 與香港政府於 1975 年 12 月達成了「總體規劃」。第一階段由 碧濤村、朝暉徑 和 明翠台 組成，於 1982 年竣工。
最早期，天主教徒必須前往香港大嶼山聖母神樂院或中環參加主日彌撒。 1983年，Bernard Shields神父。伯納德·希爾茲 (Bernard Shields, SJ) 於每月的第一個星期日到愉景灣康樂會主持彌撒。其他神父如伯納德神父‧希爾茲 (Bernard Shields)，SJ，神父。神父賈斯汀·麥凱布 OCSO，和卡洛索科爾 神父(Carlo Socol)，SDB 。哈維爾·德·佩特羅，主業團。及後來的，Michael神父 (Fr. Michael McKeirnan, MM) 前來幫忙主持中文彌撒。
於那個時候，數位天使傳教修女會的修女與麥南施修女一起幫助當地的天主教團體。
康頤閣(1D)住宅單位於1990年6月購買,小聖堂亦於同年祝聖。由於參與彌撒人數增加，彌撒不得不稍後在 愉景灣國際學校DBIS 舉行。小堂名稱於 1994 年被正式定名為聖三一小堂。 2007年，Fr. Arturo Arcos被任命為主任司鐸。
教堂屬於主顯節教區。 1995年，OMI神父在神父的領導下負責主顯節教區。教區於 2006 年移交給神言會 (SVD)。
當教區於 2015 年一分為二時，三一教堂成為新教區的一部分，稱為探視教區。新冠疫情後，週日彌撒的地點從DBIS移至偉倫小學。
儘管群眾聚集的地點和時間受到許多限制，但人們懷著一顆偉大的心成為 DB 社群的一部分。人們自願搭建彌撒場地，在禮拜儀式期間提供幫助（牧師、EMHC、唱詩班、祭壇服務員、評論員等），並在彌撒後清理場地。我們祈求上帝繼續祝福我們成為一個健康、精神和快樂的天主教社區，並繁榮發展。
