Well, here it is, my vain section... Actually, I really do want to put this here as a sort of explanation of my habits and mindset...

First off, my history with DBZ...

My FIRST contact was through an old EGM... They did an article on Super Butoden 2 and 3.... Back then, I just thought, "wow...cool looking characters and game...weird names, though"...lol And I soon forgot about it...

But then a few years later, CN started to play the dubbed anime... I instantly fell in love with the story, the characters, and pretty much everything about the show... I watched it religiously, mostly the 12:30 showing... I'd be up in the living room in the dark with nothing but the TV on, gazing at the screen... Back then, all I knew was that it was a really cool show... I had no idea there was an "uncut" version... HFIL, I'm so arrogant that I hardly even acknowledged it came from Japan in the first place...lol

I can distinctly remember one night, though... It was the very first time Goku and Vegeta fought... There I was, out in my living room with the lights off, trying to keep down my shouts as to not wake up my parents...lol It was an amazing episode, and I had waited for what seemed like FOREVER to see it...

I'm also a dubbie at heart... I "grew up" with the American DBZ, and for a while, knew ONLY that... So, I've picked up some habits that I will keep forever, even if I've moved past the usual dubbie knowledge base... For instance, my spellings... I prefer "Saiyan", get used to it... I simply DETEST "Saiya-jin"... Sure, it may be the correct Japanese term,but I'm NOT Japanese... I'm an AmericAN, not an America-JIN...lol I also still happen to like the FUNi dub... It may not be perfect, but it's good enough for me... In fact, since the beginning of season 4, I've been taping EACH episode on CN...

Goku, the allmighty...

From the very beginning, I've been a HUGE Goku fan... I've always been a fan of the heros and main characters... And Goku fits into both of those categories... I practically idolize the man, errr, Saiyan... I find him to be as close to perfect as one can get... Most just say that he's dumb... I, however, offer a different explanation... He's not dumb, he only has qualities that the rest of us SEE as dumb... He is merely childlike; naive, trusting, good natured, honest, etc, etc, etc... Those may be what most would classify as "stupid", but in all reality they're not... In fact, I'd say he's a better person than any of us just because he is the way he is...

In fact, I even could say I look up to him, as much as one can look up to a fictional character...

The next phase...

When I went off to college I was extremely happy to find out that my dorm got CN... Season 3 had just recently started, and if they didn't have the channel I'd have missed most of it... Needless to say, it was a GOOD thing that they got the channel...

I then found out that my roommate (from Korea) was also a fan! And as it turns out, he had already read the entire Manga series translated into Korean when he was younger... He knew stuff I had never even DREAMED about... During the Frieza fight he was telling me about all of the transformations to come, and how LONG it was going to be...lol He told me of Krillen's death, and Goku's amazing transformation... I had heard the term "Super Saiyan" before then in the previous episodes, but I had no idea what it WAS (I've come a LONG way since then....lol) He also told me something that amazed me... He said that even though the series had gone on a long time, it wasn't even halfway over! I couldn't believe it... I'd been watching it for what seemed like forever by then and it STILL had tons more to come! I got my first taste of the future when, while channel surfing, I came across the I-Channel... They were playing the androids episodes... And it was the one with Dr Gero running from them and getting his ass kicked by Piccolo... And there was this purple haired kid yelling at Vegeta, and needless to say, I was very confused... My roommate then explained that to me the best he could...

Then, came the internet...

Up to this point, I had yet to ever set foot on a DBZ site... In fact, my internet usage as a whole was pretty limited...

But then, along came Yahoo chess/checkers...lol Oddly enough, it all started there... I saw one of my other roommates playing one day and thought it would be cool... So, I went on over, signed up, and picked this name... I've been SuperSaiyanGokuX ever since...

I then started messing around with my Yahoo Profile...I wanted to make it all centered on the show I hold so dear... And of course it had to feature Super Saiyan Goku... So, I had to get a pic... Back then though, Goku hadn't even gone SS yet... I had never even seen it... While poking around on the dorm intranet, I found a pic of what looked like Goku, only different... He had different looking hair, and not jsut that it was blond, he looked younger, and was wearing purple clothing... Of course, we all know this is Gohan... But back then, I had no idea, and just assumed it was Goku... I didn't think there would be any OTHER Super Saiyans (BIG mistake...eh? Sad, I know...lol)

So, for a little while, my Yahoo pic was Super Saiyan GOHAN... Embarassing, but true...

But I soon wisened up, and began my quest to get a REAL pic of SS Goku...

The rest is history... I soon found my pic of SS Goku, and put it up... Then, soon after that, I actually got to SEE him in action, for the first time... It was the greatest thing in the world...lol

And it all kept spiraling from there...

I wanted to start a pic collection... I wanted to be able to SEE all of the wonderful things my roommate had been telling me about...

I didn't have my own computer down at college, but my roommate shared his laptop, and since he was also a fan, he didn't mind one bit that I startd saving each and every pic I could find...lol And in fact, he'd help me... We'd sit there for hours sometimes looking all over the net for DBZ...

And I soon had what I considered a HUGE pic collection... But with it came a LOT of knowledge... I wasn't just saving pics, I was reading all of the info and such everywhere I went... And it all began to build up in my head...

Then, over Christmas break, something horrible happened... My roommate had a family emergency, and had to go back home to Korea for that quarter, taking his computer, and my DBZ collection, with him...

Luckily, though, over break, I had bought my OWN computer and could start again...

And since then, I've had the same one, and my DBZ collection has grown to fill over 2 Gigabytes of space on my hard drive... And not just pictures (even though I have over a thousand) it also includes sounds, movie clips, etc...

And with all of that new work, came even MORE knowledge...

And I've been soaking up everything I can since then...

Through Yahoo Checkers, I had met a few other fans of the show, who introduced me to Yahoo Clubs... And after joining all kinds of them, most of which died, even one I started myself...lol I came across the Dragonball Z Club... the biggest one on Yahoo, and met all kinds of other highly knowledgeable people... Some of which work on this very site...

But that club fell into ruin, as the founder abandonned it for too long, and it got overrun with spammers and general jackasses... So a few of us decided to leave and form our own club... The DB Trinity Club (it's a "Group" now, though)

And that's where the idea for this site was spawned, and carried out...

eBay

For a while, eBay was a HUGE addiction for me... A few short months ago, all I owned DBZ-wise were two posters, a couple of figures, and one shirt...

Now, I have an entire roomful of DBZ stuff, mostly thanks to eBay...

I've got all kinds of Bandai figures, posters, wall scrolls, shirts, etc...

But most importantly, are the subs I bought on CD... I now have nearly every episode of all three series, and every movie and special... All right here on CD... They're what I use for my DB summaries...

I've also gotten the DBZ OVA and 10th Anniversary special on VHS through eBay...

All in all, if you have the money, and can control yourself I highly suggest it... But watch out, it's highly addictive...lol

What's the deal with the "X"....SuperSaiyanGokuX?

I get asked this all the time... The REAL reason is that when picking a name for Yahoo, I HAD to be named after my hero, Goku... And I just thought Super Saiyan Goku was cool as HFIL (more on my use of HFIL in a minute)... However, it was taken... So the only option left to me was to alter it in some way to make it work and, no offense, but I simply DETEST adding numbers on the end of something to make it "original"... I didn't want to be just another "SSGoku239353"...I just hate that... It looks so cheesy...

So, I immediately thought of adding the "X"... I'm not sure why... But I just thought it looked cool, and "original"...and judging by the comments I usually get, it IS...lol

And no, when I signed up for this name, I had NO IDEA who VegettoEX was... So it is NOT a rip off of his name in any way whatsoever...lol

I like to think that the "X" is a variable... Implying that I'm not just SS3 Goku, or SS2 Goku... I'm SS Anything Goku... Any number from 0 to infinity...lol

And it also can stand for things like "X-treme"...lol

But really, it just boils down to the fact that I hate adding numbers to the end of screen names to make it original...

SSGX the dubbie

Yes, I will freely admit, and proudly so, that I am a DUBBIE....

A dubbie at heart at least... I got my start with the dubbed DBZ, and that's the version I fell in love with... So I hold it near and dear to my heart, even though I now know that it's a horrible botch job...lol

Even with its many flaws, I still like it, and watch it daily...

And I will always retain my dubbie lingo... I call everyone by their American names... Master Roshi, King Kai, etc... I also say "Spirit Bomb" and "Special Beam Cannon"... And I use HFIL ALL the time...lol I just like it... It's funny as HFIL...

And like it says WAY up there before you all got so bored reading this, I ONLY use "Saiyan"... And for Super Saiyan, I only use the abbreviation "SS"... Absolutely NO J's for me...

So if you see that everywhere on this site, that's why... Don't bother correcting me on it or yelling at me... I'll never sway from my stand on this matter...

What other things should we know?

First off, if you haven't figured out by now, I'm EXTREMELY long winded... I simply CAN'T put anything into simple, concise terms... I just HAVE to write it ALL out and in the fullest way I can... And if you've gotten this far reading this, you undoubtedly have noticed that by now...lol

I also uses ellipses "..." in place of MOST punctuation...lol I do that because it seems to fit my style of thinking better... Commas imply a pause that's more like a stop... Like at a yellow flashing light; people still stop for a little bit before going on.... I never really stop in my thoughts... They all just sort of run together, and slightly slow down every once in a while between thoughts... I think the ellipse "..." shows that better... So, I use it and I use it a LOT...lol

Plus, I think it adds a certain original style and look to my writing...

Why in the HFIL did you make us read all of this?

Well, I'm sorry... I really didn't MAKE you; you CHOSE to read this...lol But my real reasons are simply that I like to talk about myself... Yes, I DO have an ego...lol But a nicer reason is that I wanted to explain to you guys where I'm coming from... So you can decide whether or not to trust my words...lol
